ISLAMABAD (Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Eid ul Azha is being celebrated with religious zeal and fervor across the country today.
Eid prayers were offered at eidgahs, mosques, imambargahs and open grounds.
In the early hours of the day, Muslims thronged mosques, imambargahs and open spaces for Eid prayers. After Eid prayers, special prayers were offered for Allah’s blessings, peace for mankind, solidarity among the Muslim Umma and prosperty of the homeland.
The largest congregation of Eid prayer was held at Faisal Mosque in Islamabad where politicians, diplomats and citizens offered Eid prayers.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani offered Eid prayers at the President House and Prime Minister House respectively.
In Karachi the largest Eid prayer congregation was held in Bag-e-Jinnah where Governor Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad and many other important personalities offered prayers.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Choudhry offered Eid prayers at Badshahi Mosque, Lahore.
In Peshawar the biggest Eid namaz congregation was held at central Eidgah where people offered prayers amid tight security.
In Quetta the biggest Eid gathering was held at Sarawan House where Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani offered his Eid prayers. After the prayer, Nawab Aslam Raisani suddenly stumbled due to a health disorder while he was talking to media.
Three days of official Eidul Azha holidays, from November 17 to 19, will be followed by two weekly holidays, giving people ample time to celebrate the festival with their families.
Meanwhile, strict security arrangements had been made across the country for the celebrations.
Law-enforcement agencies strengthened security at public places, mosques and Eidgahs and important buildings to thwart any untoward incident.
